During the 2016 presidential race, a recording surfaced, from 2005, of Donald Trump saying,
I’m automatically attracted to beautiful [women]—I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything … Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.
In reaction to this crass rhetoric, and Trump’s electoral win, women worldwide decided to protest. So on January 21, 2017, across various nations, women marched to advocate for legislation and policies regarding human rights and other issues, immigration reform, healthcare reform, reproductive rights, the natural environment, LGBTQ rights, racial equality, and the fact that an overt sexist had just risen to one of the highest offices in the western world.
Today, January 20, 2018, the women’s march rallied once more and I had the pleasure to attend the one held in Windsor.
As a public relations student, I got to help disseminate the media advisory using some of the contacts I have made in the media industry. I also got to photograph the event along with several others. Naturally I brough my little muse to star in some photos, but he wasn’t into it today, kids right?
Here are some of my favorite photos:
Until women and men are treated with the same inherent dignity and given the respect, the marchs will continue. Black or white, cis or trans, male or female, christian or muslim, in solidarity we will stand! Thanks for reading. ❤
